Since 1950, Plaskolite has been the trusted market leader of the material. We helped the company translate its longstanding spirit of innovation into a modern B2B web experience.

As an industry leader, Plaskolite has a reputation to uphold—one that’s expected to be reflected online. Over time, the brand’s website had become obsolete. It wasn’t doing justice to the brand’s highly regarded offline reputation or cutting-edge catalog. Our team got to work on an engaging, product-packed site that assisted with both company and customer acquisition.

THE APPROACH

Acrylic products have complex specifications. Finding the right product on the old Plaskolite site required customers to have an expert-level knowledge. This was fine for the distribution audience, but what about customers looking for options? For inspiration? We wanted to account for them, too. Our teams painstakingly reorganized the data at hand. The informed buyer could search for products by specifics like material, name brand and custom services. The buyer just getting started could browse by industry or application. We also consolidated the online catalog—previously separated into two cumbersome parts.

On the homepage, we designed an expandable news module that could highlight brand acquisitions or catalog additions. Further information could be placed on the Featured page. This solve was crucial for Plaskolite, who didn’t have a dedicated area for such announcements before. We also gave more precedence to specifications, related products and resources throughout the site, which representatives rely on during the selling process.

Creatively, the mission was clear: strip the dark color palette in favor of something clean and modern. We were thrilled that Plaskolite trusted us enough to choose a drastically different design concept from what they currently had. A neutral background was the perfect contrast against big and bold photography (images we were able to repurpose from Plaskolite’s existing archive). Staggered effects, parallax scrolling and color swatch modules gave a fresh, modern feel. Another first: the site finally become responsive.

Plaskolite is the resident expert in thermoplastic solutions. We helped them choose a content management solution that favored advanced out-of-the-box features, but with flexibility for customization. Sitefinity® met the technical requirements of the site, and it met the needs of site administrators wanting a user-friendly interface. This powerful platform didn’t just reposition Plaskolite technologically—it encouraged self-sustainability long after the initial launch.

Our client, a proven leader, got a site that mirrored their influence in the industry. The ripple effects were obvious: more control over growth, selling and offering the best customer experience possible. The redesign was never conceived as a momentary fix, either. This stunning, data-driven site will still be relevant years from now.
